Very modular, clear, easily washable (may warp in the dishwasher), decently water resistant, fit paper perfectly. Fix the shipping!! As for the bins themselves - great bins. Also there is never any packaging inside the box. Increased chance of shipping damage (I have had two incidents) (edit: 4), not only because the box is bigger but the bins have greater durability when stacked inside each other. What this awful shipping translates to is this: Higher product price or shipping price. It’s been like this for over a year (edit: 4 years), when I began buying these things by t he dozen. Wait, then why did I rate them two stars? THE SHIPPING! These bins are shipped ASSEMBLED and stacked - taking up about 3x as much space as opposed to stacking them with the lids off. Other reviewers list the actual dimensions, but at least one has an error, so for completeness I will list them again, as taken directly from the Sterilite website: Deep: 14" L x 11" W x 6 1/4" H // 35.6cm L x 27.9cm W x 15.9cm Large: 14" L x 11" W x 3 1/4" H // 35.6cm L x 27.9cm W x 8.3cm H Medium: 11" L x 6 5/8" W x 5 3/8" H // 27.9cm L x 16.8cm W x 13.7cm H Small: 11" L x 6 5/8" W x 2 3/4" H // 27.9cm L x 16.8cm W x 7.0cm H Mini: 6 5/8" L x 5" W x 2 3/4" H // 16.8cm L x 12.7cm W x 7 H. I’d consider a more heavy-duty option for that. (And yes, I do still buy CDs, the reasons for which are outside the scope of this review.) In terms of strength – I would suggest you keep it light to medium, the plastic is sturdy, but I’d hesitate to load them up with heavy items and then stack several up. For the CDs, a couple of cubic inches isn’t such a big loss of space that I can’t handle it for the price, especially given clear top & sides and how much more sturdy this appears to be than some of the more expensive options. There will be a bit of lost space, but it is really hard to find cost-effective storage. The deep… I didn’t realize it when I grabbed these, but this is exactly the right height for a CD! I can fit two rows of CDs with a few tucked in sideways. (If I am going to stack enough papers to fit into that big of a box, it is not only heavy, but I am probably violating whatever organizational principles prompted me to buy it in the first place.) Neither are quite large enough for a file folder to fit – the protruding label of a folder gets in the way. The deeps could also hold papers, but I won’t be using it that way. The large, as others have mentioned, are just the right size for about a ream-sized stack of 8 ½” x 11” or A4 papers, with enough room to spare top & sides to easily access such a pile. (I did not pick up a mini, but based on the dimensions I would guess two would fit side-by-side across the top of the medium/small lid, or four across the large/deep lid.) The medium is about three inches shorter and about one inch taller than typical shoe-box sized boxes, for me this is fine, I like the modularity with the other boxes enough for this to be a good trade-off. Note, however, the mediums are not quite as tall as the deeps, and the smalls are not quite as tall as the larges. Two larges are exactly the same height as one deep, and two smalls are exactly the same height as one medium. As you can see, two medium & smalls fit perfectly on top of a large or deep. On the left are two of the medium topped by one small. I have attached a photo to give you an idea how big these are relative to each other, and to demonstrate the wonderful flexibility these boxes are! Showing on the right from bottom to top, two each are: deep, large, medium and small. I have several boxes for which you flex the lid to snap it on, and these are much easier to take on and off a shelf one-handed without having lids pop off at awkward moments. The sides don’t angle as sharply, and the edges aren't overly -rounded the more rectangular shape looks tidy and gives you a more internal space for the same on-shelf footprint. (See photo.) Because they stack so neatly, I am considering using them to help organize my garage as well. What I really like about these sturdy boxes is how easy it is stack a lot of different sizes neatly.
